CONCEPT & SOLUTION
NCR is a leading company in the Point of Sale or POS business. Historically it has focused its attention on well-capitalized businesses that are looking for enterprise-level support. In 2012 it launched NCR Silver, a POS system built for small businesses to compete against Square and other upstart POS systems.

Recently, the NCR Silver team and the newly launched Digital Properties team made the decision to integrate their web marketing and e-commerce sites onto a single content management platform (CMS). Historically, NCR sales have been managed through a hands-on sales process. This makes sense when the customer is McDonald's or Target and a single sale will amount to millions in revenue, but is too expensive for small purchases from a new business.

They want to close this gap with a robust web-based e-commerce experience tailored for the small business POS customer. The design must consider existing research and project requirements (see NCR Silver - Key Findings.pdf & NCR Silver - Business Requirements Document.pdf) while comparing competitor's approaches. The component elements of the design should be created in a way that can be reconfigured and reused throughout the NCR website. The experience should also take the best parts of competitors.

Key areas of focus include: Product Pages, Guided Selling Page, Cart, Checkout, User Profile Page, Order Management Pages.

RESEARCH & FINDINGS
COMPARATIVE & COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
A competitive anlysis helped in understanding how other products are doing in the market and what features they use. This helped me structure the app accordingly from in-depth qualitative aspects. Given that NCRSilver isn't as popular as square or some of the other POS devices, we can compare some aspects to see why our users will chose one over the other.

Brandy
Confused by the wording of the 'product' and 'build' tabs
Lauren
Thought "build" tab was misleading "Product" should be "products"
Didn't like the option to have all question listed at the bottom when answering the "build a solution" questions.
Ben
Suggested adding label under icons on "build a solution" pages
Kim
Site is too big
"I'm 30 not 50. Might be great for a 50 year old but ya."
MK
Wanted to see an indication that the questions move to the left
